Wounded Woman Delivers Baby After Chicago Shooting

A pregnant Chicago woman who was shot in the abdomen during another violent holiday weekend in the city later delivered a nearly full-term baby boy.  The shooting Monday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood also wounded the woman's boyfriend.

A hospital spokeswoman says the woman, 23-year-old Crystal Myers, is in critical condition. The spokeswoman could not release the infant's condition without parental permission.

Police are investigating whether the shooting was connected to a fatal shooting Sunday in the same neighborhood.

The Chicago Police Department hasn't released its count of Labor Day weekend shootings. But The Sun-Times reports 65 people were shot, including 13 who were killed.  The newspaper says eight died of 54 people who were shot during last year's Labor Day weekend.
