U of Illinois losing top administrator to New Jersey school

One of the top administrators in the University of Illinois system is leaving for a similar job at a private university in New Jersey.  The University of Illinois says Vice President of Academic Affairs Christophe Pierre will leave Aug. 31 to become provost and vice president for academic affairs at Stevens Institute of Technology. The job is the No. 2 position at the New Jersey school.

Pierre said in a statement that working at the university since 2011 was a privilege.

University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen thanked Pierre for "sharing his leadership, insights and experience."

Pierre is credited with helping the university increase the enrollment across its three campuses and helping guide them as the school struggles with the state budget stalemate.
