Illinois State students complain about primary voting lines

About 25 Illinois State University students attended a county board finance meeting to complain that some of their classmates had to wait for hours to cast ballots in last month's primary election.

The students told board members they don't want it to happen again. McClean County board members will hold a special meeting at the university on the topic before next month.

County Clerk Kathy Michael says she plans to move voting in November to the Brown Ballroom, a much bigger space, bring in more equipment and to more than double the number of election judges from 11 to 25.

She says she still expects lines because of a new state law that requires all polling places to offer same-day voter registration.
