Duckworth criticizes Kirk’s remarks

A day after winning the Democratic primary for the U. S. Senate, Illinois Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth has sharpened her attacks against Republican Senator Mark Kirk.

At an appearance in Springfield today Duckworth tied Kirk to Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. She says both men have made controversial remarks about minorities and women.

"I don't think Illinois wants a man who makes misogynistic and racist comments to be president of the United States. Mark Kirk has made similar inflammatory comments. "

Last year Kirk jokingly referred to unmarried U-S Senator Lindsey Graham as a "bro with no hoe".  Duckworth also criticized Kirk for saying people drive faster in African American neighborhoods.

Kirk says Duckworth is weak on terrorism, and hasn't done enough to help veterans.  Both Kirk and Duckworth served in the military.
