Democratic US Senate candidates to face off in 3 debates

The Illinois Democrats running for U.S. Senate will face off in three debates before the March 15th primary.  U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, state Sen. Napoleon Harris and former Chicago Urban League CEO Andrea Zopp are seeking the Democratic nomination.

They'll debate Feb. 8 before the Chicago Tribune editorial board and on Feb. 16 before the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board.

Sen. Napoleon Harris

A third debate sponsored by WLS-TV, Univision and the League of Women Voters of Illinois is tentatively set for Feb. 19.

Andrea Zopp

Zopp's campaign criticized Duckworth for "ducking debates."  Zopp wanted other debates in Chicago, Peoria and Springfield.

Duckworth's campaign declined to comment beyond a statement saying she looks forward to sharing her vision for Illinois.
