The12thAnnual Quad City Bald Eagle Watch will be held this weekend, Friday through Sunday, at theQCCAExpo Center in Rock Island.Thousands of local school children and other area residents turn out each year to see eagles, and other live birds of prey, and related exhibits. There are also excellent locations to view eagles "in the wild" - from LeClaire Park in Davenport, on the western tip of Arsenal Island, and from the bike path in downtown Rock Island. Other sites include Credit Island in Davenport, and at Lock and Dam 14 in LeClaire.

The annual bald eagle watch in Clinton will also be held this weekend, on Saturday - with educational programs and exhibits at Clinton Community College, and eagle watching at Lock and Dam 13 near Fulton.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
