CHICAGO (AP) - The city of Chicago is launching a new public health campaign aimed at educating young people on the dangers of electronic cigarettes. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the city's public health department said Wednesday the so-called "Vaping" campaign includes advertisements that will debut Monday. They're also trying to spread the word via social media, using the hashtag (hash)VapingTruth. The Chicago Department of Public Health defines vaping as breathing in heated liquid nicotine from devices such as personal vaporizers or e-cigarettes. Dr. Julie Morita is the city's public health commissioner. She says electronic cigarettes and other battery-operated devices are designed to mimic cigarettes and have flavors that appeal to young people. Morita says the campaign includes information on the dangers of nicotine and toxic chemicals found in some liquids.
