O'FALLON, Ill. (AP) - The push to lure a federal spy agency's new regional headquarters from St. Louis to southern Illinois continues.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency plans to host a public meeting Wednesday at the Katy Cavins Community Center in O'Fallon, Illinois as it prepares to select one of four sites in the two-state region vying for the $1.6 billion project.
A similar session is planned Thursday near downtown St. Louis.
The defense and intelligence agency is considering locations in St. Louis County, north St. Louis and a tract near MidAmerica Airport and Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, which has agreed to donate the land.
The new campus would employ 3,100 workers and replace the little-known agency's current location near the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Missouri.
