University of Illinois leaders say cuts announced last week in administration spending aren't the only places where the state budget uncertainty is having an effect.
University President Timothy Killeen and Urbana-Champaign campus interim Chancellor Barbara Wilson say an advancement office in San Francisco has been closed and new offices planned in China and India have been put on hold. Cuts are also being made in the College of Engineering budget.
The university and other state-funded agencies and institutions around Illinois are still waiting for a state budget that was due in July.
Gov. Bruce Rauner and the General Assembly have failed to agree on a budget as the state faces massive spending shortfalls.
