University of Illinois trustees are expected to vote next month on whether to remove a retention bonus from President Timothy Killeen's contract.
Trustees are also expected to consider removing a $50-thousand dollar housing allowance that University of Illinois-Chicago Chancellor Michael Amiridis now gets.
The moves follow heavy criticism from Gov. Bruce Rauner and others of the university's plan to pay Phyllis Wise a $400-thousand dollar retention bonus as she resigned as chancellor at the Urbana-Champaign campus last summer. Wise stepped down amid a series of controversies on campus.
The university eventually backtracked on that plan and Killeen promised to give up his own retention bonus and examine other perks for top administrators.
The moves are expected to be on the trustees' agenda for their Nov. 12 meeting.
