Sandi Jackson reports to prison

bettergov.org

The wife of former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. reported to prison this morning to begin serving a one-year sentence.  Former Chicago Alderman Sandi Jackson reported to a small minimum-security women’s prison near the town of Alderson in southern West Virginia.

The 52 year-old former 8th ward alderman plead guilty to filing a false tax return with her husband.  The Jacksons spent $750,000 of the congressman’s campaign money on vacations and entertainment memorabilia.

Meanwhile, Jesse Jackson Jr. was released last month from his 2 ½ year sentence for illegal campaign fund spending.

The judge staggered the sentences so one parent could watch their two children at their home in Washington, D.C.
