Group to help displaced workers find work in Peoria area

Peoria area workers at Caterpillar and other companies who suddenly find themselves out of work will be getting help finding employment in the region.

The Greater Peoria Economic Development Council is putting together a program to help laid-off workers explore their options and provide help for the workers to land jobs in the area.

The new program that comes after Caterpillar announced it plans to restructure and lay off 10,000 workers across its global workforce.  The program is designed to help both the laid off Caterpillar workers and anyone else in the area who's lost their jobs.

The program is called "Stay GP. "   GP is short for Greater Peoria. The web site to be launched Oct. 19 is StayGP.org.
