ISU unveils memorial to plane crash victims

Illinois State University

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois State Athletics Department has unveiled a memorial near an entrance to Redbird Arena to remember the seven who lost their lives in an April plane crash in central Illinois.  The memorial was unveiled in a recent private ceremony and is now open to members of the public. It features seven columns in a fountain to honor the assistant basketball coach, a school administrator and five fans killed in the crash outside Bloomington-Normal. Their names are also etched into a back wall. Director of Athletics Larry Lyons said there was a duty to honor the men and support their families.
