Abortion survivor pushes for defunding of Planned Parenthood

A Missouri Woman is scheduled to tell House lawmakers today how she survived an abortion attempt by her then teenaged mother.  Her testimony is part of an effort to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood.

Melissa Ohden, is the founder of The Abortion Survivors Network.  She wants all funding that could support abortion to stop.  Ohden is scheduled to be one of the first in a long-line of witnesses before congressional committees this Fall.

A summer campaign of undercover video releases against Planned Parenthood, set the stage for hearings on the group’s activities and federal funding.

Ballwin Republican Representative Ann Wagner was one of the first to call for hearings.  She says she strongly believes in cutting off tax-dollars to the group.

“Because, at the end of the day, we don’t know what’s going toward abortion, what’s going towards trafficking of human baby parts, what may be going toward women’s health.”

Planned Parenthood says it has broken no laws and the video’s are edited out of context.

The funding fight is already threatening negotiations to craft a federal budget by the end of the month.
