Reductions in child care services for some families will continue around Illinois. Democrats tried and failed to block cuts to daycares that Republican Governor Bruce Rauner put in place - to save money while there is no budget. Republican State Representative Michael Tryon voted to keep the cuts - hoping that services will be restored if a budget is approved.
“ If we don’t get a budget, the cuts that were on here today may get deeper.”
More than 1,100 Illinois parents have been turned away from receiving child care in the past six weeks because of the political impasse.
