NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - The Normal Town Council is set to vote on a land-swap deal with Illinois State University that would allow for building a new fire headquarters on school-owned land. The council will vote whether to approve the deal Monday night. The agreement includes land where the fire headquarters would be built, and the school would get four smaller town-owned properties. Those properties include one of the town's fire stations, and Illinois State has agreed to let the town continue to use it until the new headquarters is ready. University trustees approved the land-swap deal last month. City Manager Mark Peterson says the new fire headquarters has a $7.5 million budget. Construction likely wouldn't start until next year.
