A 38-year-old Kankakee man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for growing marijuana plants with the intent to distribute them.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Springfield said Monday that David Aaron Neblock also was ordered to pay more than $52,000 in outstanding taxes because he'd filed false income taxes.
Authorities say more than 750 marijuana plants were seized in July 2012 from a warehouse in Bradley, where Neblock grew them with artificial lights and an irrigation system.
Neblock also will forfeit a Kankakee home bought with proceeds from his marijuana-growing operation. Prosecutors say he bought the house by submitting a false loan application that claimed he was employed at various businesses and had received an inheritance.
Neblock has been in federal custody since pleading guilty in January.
