Bloomington man charged with murder of ex-wife

City of Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - Bloomington police investigating the slaying of an accountant found shot to death in her office have charged her ex-husband with murder.

Police Chief Brendan Heffner said Kirk Zimmerman was charged Tuesday in connection with the Nov. 4 death of 53-year-old Pamela Zimmerman. Heffner says the 56-year-old suspect was arrested Tuesday morning. He declined to release a motive for the crime.

The Zimmermans divorced in 2012 after 20 years of marriage. They had three children. Pamela Zimmerman became engaged to another man several days before her death. Kirk Zimmerman will make his initial court appearance Wednesday, when bond will be set. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney who might comment on his arrest.
