A suburban Chicago man has been arrested after security screeners at Midway International Airport found a loaded 9mm handgun in his carry-on luggage.
Chicago police and the Transportation Security Administration say 43-year-old David Weber of Shorewood was at a security checkpoint at the airport Thursday when the gun was spotted.
A police spokesman says Weber was charged with a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm in an airport. He's scheduled to appear in court July 7. It wasn't clear whether he has an attorney who could comment on the arrest.
The TSA says it's the eighth firearm discovered in a carry-on at Midway so far this year. Nationwide last year, TSA officers discovered more than 2,200 firearms at airport checkpoints.
