Champaign County seeks museum highlighting local innovations

An effort is underway to create a museum featuring innovations developed in Champaign County.

The Orpheum Children's Science Museum, the University of Illinois Research Park, the Champaign Park District and the Prairie Research Institute all are interested in the idea.

Jayne DeLuce, president and CEO of Visit Champaign County, presented the concept Wednesday during one of the bureau's annual events.

She says it's still unclear whether the museum would be placed in a new location or serve as an expansion of the Orpheum Children's Science Museum in downtown Chicago.
