An Illinois prison inmate has been ordered to remain locked up the rest of his life. He asked to be re-sentenced when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled mandatory life sentences for juveniles are unconstitutional.
The court cited research showing that juveniles don't always understand consequences of their actions.
Adolfo Davis is among several Cook County defendants who potentially could be affected by the high court's 2012 ruling. He was the first to be re-sentenced.
Davis was a willing participant in a double murder. He was convicted 24 years ago at the age of 14. His violent behavior in prison is evidence that he remains a threat to others.
