Mayors decry proposed tax cuts

Illinois mayors are lobbying state lawmakers to try and prevent a loss of tax revenue. Illinois Public Radio's Jamey Dunn has more.

 

 

Mayors say that local governments have made the tough choices to balance their budgets after the recession. The state shares with municipalities.  Several mayors say if that happens, they will have to lay off police officers and firefighters. Belleville Mayor Mark Eckert says that’s what his city would do. Rauner says the state needs the money to help close its estimated 6 billion budget gap. I'm Jamey Dunn.
