Teen police shooting in Zion

newsbusters.org

Authorities are investigating after a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed by a police officer in northeastern Illinois over the weekend.  Zion police say officers were dispatched Saturday afternoon after receiving a call about an argument or fight. Police say a male ran away when police arrived, leading officers on a chase.

The teen was shot around 2 p.m. Saturday in Zion. Officers attempted to administer medical aid at the scene, and the teen was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting. The identities of the officer and teen haven't been released by police.
No further details were available late Sunday night.
