Ed Brady drops out of race for Schock’s seat

Another potential contender for former Congressman Aaron Schock's seat says he won't run after all.

By now, you may know the name Bill Brady, the State Senator from Bloomington has run for governor several times; one of them he was Republican's nominee.

Though his name had been mentioned, he quickly bowed out of the race to replace Schock.  Instead, it was his brother, home builder Ed Brady, who'd explored a run.

In a statement, Ed Brady said he'd spent three weeks traveling the district, and found a sincere interest from voters in a contested primary, but in the end, he says, given the election's short time span, it's best for voters that the Republican party stay united.

To that end, Brady has endorsed GOP front runner, State Sen. Darin LaHood, who's from near Peoria.

Illinois has to hold a special election for the 18th Congressional district since Schock resigned amid an ethics scandal at the end of last month.

A tentative date for the primary is June 8, with the general election in late July.
