A 49-year-old man is being accused of kidnapping a woman in her 80s from her central Illinois home and sexually assaulting her.
The man was arrested on charges of aggravated battery of a senior citizen, aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, burglary, robbery and motor vehicle theft. He was being held Wednesday at Morgan County Jail.
Authorities say the man and the woman knew each other before he kidnapped her at home in Beardstown on Friday.
According to police, the woman showed up at a motel early Saturday in Pontoon Beach in the St. Louis area and said she had been kidnapped.
Police say they later found the woman's car at a Wood River motel, where the man was staying.
