The Illinois Department of Agriculture is moving ahead with issuing permits to medical marijuana growers, even as a new lawsuit seeking to block a permit in Joliet has been filed.
Agriculture Department spokeswoman Kristi Jones says cultivation groups whose applications are still under review are meeting with the department Thursday. The department has printed permits already for other growers. Growers started picking up permits this week.
Teddy Scott of PharmaCann says the company has its permits for its marijuana facilities in Dwight and Hillcrest. Tim O'Hern of Nature's Grace and Wellness, a cultivation center in Vermont, Illinois, says the printed paperwork is a relief and a good sign for the industry.
Meanwhile, White Oak Growers filed a lawsuit against Cresco Labs, a competitor, and the agriculture department.
