Another lawsuit challenges regulators of medical marijuana

Another prospective medical marijuana grower has filed a lawsuit against Illinois regulators, contending the state failed to follow its own rules in awarding a license to grow the drug.

White Oak Growers LLC also filed a lawsuit against Cresco Labs LLC, a competitor. White Oak was seeking to open a cultivation center in rural Will County near Manhattan. However, the license went to Cresco for a grow warehouse in Joliet.

The lawsuit mirrors another that was filed last week by marijuana cultivation applicant PM Rx LLC. It makes similar claims involving the state and Cresco over a license in the Kankakee area.

That lawsuit prompted a Cook County judge to issue a temporary order preventing the state from giving Cresco the license while the issue is litigated.
