Survey: Illinois uninsured rate in 2014 drops to 11 percent

An extensive survey shows the share of Illinois residents without health insurance declined 4.5 percentage points as President Barack Obama's overhaul took full effect.
The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index was released Tuesday. Gallup pollsters found the Illinois uninsured rate dropped to 11 percent in 2014.
The survey is considered authoritative because it combines the speed of media polls with the thoroughness of large government studies. Pollsters interview 500 people a day, 350 days a year.
The survey has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 1 to 2 percentage points for most states.
