A group of bipartisan lawmakers have introduced a proposal to increase energy efficiency in Illinois.
The plan call for a reduced reliance on non-renewable resources by 20% in ten years, and more come 2030.
Representative Chris Welch, a Democrat from Hillside, says the recently-formed Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition is made up of a mix of businesses and environmental, labor and faith organizations from both political parties.
"This is not an issue particular to one particular group. It's black, it's white, it's green, it's for everybody. You know, this is a diverse coalition."
The group says the standards will help create jobs, save money and provide a cleaner environment.
