Funding is about $100,000 short for a replica of Abraham Lincoln's funeral train to make a trip from Washington to Springfield to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's death.
Shannon Brown is media director for The 2015 Lincoln Funeral Train. Brown says the group has $150,000 of the $250,000 needed for the trip. She says the group believes with corporate sponsorship the project is "entirely doable."
Meanwhile in Elgin, master mechanic David Kloke is working 10-hour days to finish a replica of Lincoln's funeral train car. He needs to meet an April 15 deadline. That's the day Lincoln was assassinated. The funeral car also is to be on display in Springfield in May as part of a two-day commemoration by The 2015 Lincoln Funeral Coalition.
