Chicago mayor places wreath at Ernie Banks' statue

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has joined those who have come to downtown's Daley Plaza to pay their respects to Cubs legend Ernie Banks.

On Wednesday, Emanuel and Banks' widow placed a wreath near the statue of the Hall of Famer. The Chicago Cubs and the city brought the statue to the plaza where it will remain through Saturday to give fans a chance to pay tribute to Banks. He died Friday at age 83. The statue of Banks typically stands outside Wrigley Field

Emanuel told the crowd that while Banks has always known as Mr. Cub, he will "always be Mr. Chicago."  A memorial service for Banks will be held Saturday.
