Federal prosecutors are leading small group discussions about relations between police and communities. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder visited Chicago for one of those meetings.
Holder is having discussions with a select group of young people, religious leaders, and politicians - in response to police killings in New York and Missouri.
In his brief comments to the media - Holder complimented the Chicago police.
HOLDER: There are a number of things going on here in here, in Chicago which is one of the reasons I wanted to come that I think are really examples of the way in which law enforcement is reaching out to the community.
Zachary Fardon is the top federal prosecutor in Chicago.
He also complimented the police - in speaking of the several demonstrations around the city.
FARDON: That, from where I stand, is called democracy. And I’ve come to believe that we’re pretty good at it here in the City of Chicago.
Chicago’s police superintendent sat next to Holder and Fardon.
The young people at the table sat at the other end - but reporters were not allowed to sit in to hear the conversation.
