Army National Guard to open new readiness center in Normal

The Illinois Army National Guard is set to dedicate a new, $18 million readiness center in Normal.
Soldiers of the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade will hold a dedication and open house Sunday at the Normal Readiness Center at Heartland Community College.

The 18,000-square-foot shared space on the college campus is the new home of the 404th, which was previously headquartered in Chicago.
Ground was broken on the facility in March 2013.
In a news release, Illinois Army National Guard officials say the new center will give the 404th easy access to an airport and the highway system in the central part of Illinois.
The 404thMEB includes units with expertise in domestic emergencies such as search and extraction, military police and firefighting.
