CNN catches up with Quad Cities environmentalist

Living Lands and Waters

A nationally-known environmentalist from the Quad Cities will be back on national television Friday night. One year after CNN named Chad Pregracke its Hero of the Year, the network will update his activities since then.

He's the founder of Living Lands and Waters which leads clean-ups along major rivers in the US. The group's Education Facilitator, Mike Coyme-Logan, says these rivers are a key source of drinking water.

“18 million people get their daily drinking water from the Mississippi, so for that reason alone, it’s important to protect it.”

The group's goal for next year is to remove half a million pounds of garbage. Living Lands and Waters also provides "floating workshops" on its barge, and hosted more than 1,000 students this year. The update on Chad Pregracke, and Living Lands and Waters, will be shown on CNN Friday night at 9 p.m.
