Illinois’ Governor-elect Bruce Rauner is putting together a transition team before the takes office. It includes Democrats, pastors from Chicago’s South Side and some small business owners.
Rauner says he’s putting together a diverse team to help the state be more “Competitive and Compassionate."
It’s a refrain Rauner didn’t use in the campaign - but started saying after he won the election. Big names on this new team include Bill Daley - formerly Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff and son to former Chicago mayor Richard J Daley. Former Chicago Public Schools chief Ron Huberman is also on the list.
“The transition team is to help us with wisdom, expertise and knowledge and their networks of relationships.”
As for any word on specific policies Rauner will implement as Governor - like on the state income tax which is scheduled to go down.
“I’m gonna work very closely with the General Assembly to come up with short term solutions and long term solutions to our financial trouble.”
Rauner thanked Governor Pat Quinn for helping him in this transition - but says the two haven’t spoken since the election.
