Lawmakers question Quinn aides about anti-violence initiative

Illinois lawmakers are continuing to question aides to Governor Pat Quinn about the mismanagement of a four year old anti-violence initiative.  Jack Lavin spent the morning on the hot seat in a downtown Chicago hearing room.  He used to be Governor Quinn’s chief of staff.

State lawmakers peppered him with questions about what he knew of the mismanaged initiative.  Republicans call it a slush fund. Lavin says he didn’t know of major mismanagement issues.

"If I had been aware of significant problems, I probably would’ve done something different. I think that there’s enough responsibility to go around."

Democrats on the committee say the Republicans are using the committee hearing to try to embarrass Governor Quinn ahead of next month’s election.
