Rauner questioned about Trans Health Care connections

A trial in a Florida bankruptcy court could have implications in the campaign for Illinois governor.

Republican candidate for Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has been asked repeatedly by reporters about Trans Health Care.

That’s a group of nursing homes with ties to Rauner’s namesake venture capital firm.

Here’s what Rauner had to say about the nursing home trial - when asked by reporters Monday.

RAUNER: I hope and believe that there wasn’t any wrongdoing done anywhere. If there was, it should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Families of some of the residents in those nursing homes have filed suit over neglectful deaths that happened there.

They claim Rauner’s investment firm has tried to avoid liability for those deaths.

It’s a complex court case involving ownership of the nursing homes.

Rauner says his company’s track record is stellar - and says Governor Pat Quinn’s campaign is using the trial as a distraction from the issues facing Illinois.

But Quinn’s campaign has said Rauner’s track record shows what kind of governor he’d be…

And that Rauner is trying to avoid responsibility.
