Latest Poll Numbers on Gov's Race

A new poll shows Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is gaining ground

on his Republican challenger Bruce Rauner.

The poll - out yesterday (SUN) from Illinois-based polling company We Ask America - shows Rauner with a slight lead over Quinn - 44 to 41 percent. That’s within the poll’s 3 percent margin of error. It’s also a lot lower than Rauner’s lead a few weeks ago.

In a poll earlier this month Rauner was beating Quinn by 8.5 percent. Before that he had a double digit lead.

In the new poll, 6 percent of likely voters say they would vote for Libertarian candidate Chad Grimm - while 9 percent say they’re undecided. We Ask America surveyed 14-hundred likely voters on September 18 and 19.

The pollsters say Quinn is hitting his stride while Rauner is stumbling a bit.
