Ruling halts same sex marriage in Indiana

Same-sex couples who rushed to get married last week in Indiana are now in legal limbo.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago issued the stay of an earlier ruling late Friday afternoon.  That put a stop to same-sex couples getting married.

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller wants the U.S. Supreme Court to decide the matter.

But what about the validity of hundreds of marriage licenses that were already issued to same-sex couples? Paul Castillo, an attorney challenging Indiana’s ban, says they should be valid.

"They were actually married within the law, as it stood, on those days in Indiana. The state should not change that. "

There’s no telling when the Court of Appeals will make its next move.
