This week, engineers, contractors, and municipal workers from ten states will meet in the Quad Cities to learn how to prevent erosion and improve water quality. Tuesday through Thursday, two chapters of the International Erosion Control Association will hold a joint conference called, "Great Connections." Brian Stineman, Davenport's Natural Resources Manager, expects more than 200 people to attend the workshops, field trips, and other sessions.
One of the keynote speakers will be Tom Murphy, the former Mayor of Pittsburgh, who will discuss how changes in water quality rules affect cities, their infrastructure, and sustainable development. The erosion control conference will be held at the Radisson in downtown Davenport. It's sponsored by the Great Rivers and Great Lakes chapters of the International Erosion Control Association.
