Illinois lawmakers are due back in Springfield this week. They’re expected to vote on changes the governor made to a concealed carry bill. Governor Pat Quinn says lawmakers caved to the National Rifle Association while negotiating the bill.
“Those who are mouthpieces for the NRA, they ought to realize that democracy is all about taking a stand. You’re either for public safety or against it, and people ought to know where you stand.”
Quinn wants to ban guns at any place that serves alcohol. He also wants people to only carry one concealed gun at a time. A spokesman for the NRA says Quinn’s ideas were discussed but left out of the bill because there wasn’t enough support from lawmakers.
