'Five Women Wearing the Same Dress' elevates classic wedding shenanigans

Mark Gordon

On this week’s episode of Out and About, theater director and long-time Peorian Eddie Urish joins host Dr. Mae Gilliland Wright to talk about the upcoming production of “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” at Illinois Central College.

A lavish wedding reception is in full swing downstairs, so why are the bridesmaids taking turns hiding in the upstairs bedroom? This comedy was written by Alan Ball, known for his Academy Award-winning screenplay “American Beauty,” as well as creating the series “Six Feet Under” and “True Blood.”

Directed by Urish and featuring a cast and technical crew led by students, performances are at the ICC Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 31, and April 1, at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit ICC's website.

Jody Holtz is WCBU's assistant program and development director, All Things Considered host, as well as the producer of WCBU’s arts and culture podcast Out and About.
