Bob Edwards Talks With Sylvia Poggioli In Belgrade
about the latest opposition protests calling for the ouster of President Milosevic. The parliament of the new Yugoslavia was due to meet today, but the session was suspended amid growing signs of unease by the authorities.
Nashville Bob I
Roving correspondent Bob Garfield had to go to Nashville, Tennessee last year to deliver a speech. While he was there, he decided he'd like to write a hit country song. After enlisting the aid of almost everyone in the region, he ended up with a song...and a better understanding of the machinery behind the country-music industry.
On-Line Publishing
About a fifth of adults in the U-S are using the Internet and the World Wide Web, a number which is growing daily. Many of these people get some of their news from on-line newspapers that are spinoffs of regular daily papers. The New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times all have some presence on the Web, but the on-line editions do not have the circulation or the advertising revenue to match their print equivalents, and most do not make any profit at all. Robert talks to editors and advertising researchers about the possible financial futures of publishing on the Web.
With The New Millennium Only A Few Years Away,
John Burnett investigates the notion of 'Rapture'. Some Christians believe that the year 2000 begins the end of the world. They say according to the >Bible, all Christians, dead and alive, will be taken up into Heaven...while the un-saved will remain on Earth to suffer.
Violin Concerto
Music critic Tom Manoff recommends a new re-packaged re-release of recordings by Zino Francescatti (fran-chess-KAH-tee). Francescatti was one of the most admired violinists of the Twentieth Century...he died in 1991. Now, his recordings are finding new life in the craze for repackaging great old performances. ("Zino Francescatti: Great Violin Concertos" is available on Sony Classical.) (3:00) ((ST
Neff

Lanny Davis, White House Special Counsel, talks to Linda about today's document release. They also discuss the White House strategy for addressing the number of questions regarding fund-raising practices, and the blurring of lines between White House business and DNC business.
Radio
Noah talks to Aleksandr Vasovic, a foreign editor at B-92, an independent radio station in Belgrade. B92 is the only independent station in Belgrade...it is also the only media outlet reporting extensively on the protests against the government. Today, Slobodan Milosevic shut down both Radio B92 and closed down the transmitter of student station Radio Index.

Eastern Orthodox
NPR's John Burnett reports on the increasing allure that the Orthodox Christian Church holds for American Protestants. One Orthodox congregation in Northern California is representative. Virtually the entire membership of St. Peter and Paul Orthodox church is American converts, attracted by the ancient, rigorous theology and its sheer constancy across the centuries. But ethnic traditionalists worry that even the most devout American converts carry with them the unwelcome seeds of change.
