Trained Interpreters Can Help Prevent Medical Errors
Though they may be well-meaning, not to mention more affordable than trained interpreters, relying on accidental interpreters, such as family members, during medical treatment isn't the best idea, research has found.
States Vary On What They Allow Midwives To Do
Midwives specifically trained in delivery outside hospitals can practice legally in 27 states. In the remaining states, mothers-to-be planning for a home birth will probably be attended by a certified nurse-midwife.
NASA Aids Fight Against California Wildfires
NASA launches the unmanned aircraft Ikhana from Edwards Air Force Base north of Los Angeles. It measures the heat coming off the wildfires raging there. That data is then converted to images, and sent back to the ground via satellite. It helps firefighters better react to conditions on the ground.
