Wendy Kaufman Reports On Recent Federal Court Decisions That Ruled
physician-assisted suicides Constitutional. The rulings will likely come before the U.S. Supreme Court, but until then, assisted suicides will be legal in 12 states, including California and New York.
Missile Defense
NPR's John Nielsen reports that the United States and Israel have agreed to install a new set of anti-missile defenses in Israel, as part of an effort to keep enemy rockets from ever hitting Israeli soil. Recent attempts to bomb the hiding places of Hezbollah guerillas firing rockets at Israel have had one disastrous side effect--heavy civilian casualties. That seems to be one of the reasons why Israel and the United States will rush to finish testing and installing an anti-missile system whose key components exist only as prototypes.

Kathy Lohr [lore] reports on two militia members arrested yesterday in Georgia for conspiracy to possess unregistered explosives. Although initial reports that they intended to target Olympic venues in Atlanta appear to be incorrect, Georgians are nervous about security at the upcoming games.
Boston Marathon At 100
Martha Bebinger of member station WBUR reports on the Monday's scheduled running of the 100th Boston Marathon. Event organizers are expecting more than 35 -thousand registered runners and untold numbers of gate-crashers trying to get in on the historic marathon.
Cambodia Dancers
Frank Stasio reports that in a suburb of Washington, D.C., a group of Cambodian-American teachers is trying to keep alive the tradition of classical Cambodian dance. After the Cambodian genocide of the 1970's, the perpetuation of that art form was threatened, as most of Cambodia's artistic figures were murdered. Now, in the U.S., young Cambodian-Americans are reviving the dance.

NPR senior news analyst Daniel Schorr says that Israel's bombing of Lebanon over the past days has had the effect, in part, of shoring up support for Shimon Peres in the upcoming June election.
Chitra Ragavan Reports From New Delhi On Voting Over The Weekend In
the first phase of India's parliamentary elections. About 60-percent of India's estimated 590-million eligible voters are expected to cast ballots. The next phase begins later this week, and voting is scheduled to be completed on May 7th.
