Mary works as an intern for NPR Illinois' Illinois Issues. She is currently a student in the Public Affairs Reporting master's degree program at the University of Illinois Springfield and will graduate in May 2018. Prior to coming to Springfield, Mary worked as the Editorial Intern at the Chicago Sun-Times. She obtained her bachelor's degree in journalism from Illinois State University where she served as the school newspaper's news editor and editorial writer. Mary is from Naperville, Ill., and attended Wheaton Warrenville South High School.

Katie Finlon is a general assignment reporter for WNIJ News. She got her start in public radio as an intern for the station and has contributed stories for them ever since. Katie earned her master’s degree in audio engineering after realizing that she loved audio editing and production during her WNIJ internship. That degree came after a bachelor’s in communication. Katie also has been Morning Edition producer for the station. Before moving into broadcast, she started her journalism career in print with her college newspaper and other local papers in northern Illinois. When she’s not in the newsroom, Katie loves spending down time with family and friends – preferably over dinner at one of her favorite Italian restaurants.

Baylee Steelman joined us in November 2016. She is a journalism major graduating in May 2018. She mainly covers Bloomington City and Normal Town Council meetings, Unit 5 School Board meetings, produces the weekend News In Review, and helps run GLT events. Baylee also produces and anchors at TV-10, Illinois State University's student TV news station.

Maddie is a social media and online writing intern at GLT. She's a student in the School of Communication at Illinois State University.

Christine Herman spent nine years studying chemistry before she left the bench to report on issues at the intersection of science and society. She started in radio in 2014 as a journalism graduate student at the University of Illinois and a broadcast intern at Radio Health Journal. Christine has been working at WILL since 2015.

Johnny joined WABE in March, 2015. Before joining the station, he was a producer at Georgia Public Broadcasting, and NPR in Washington D.C.

Maia Stern is a video producer at NPR Music. She primarily produces Tiny Desk concerts.
