Hundreds of otherwise viable organs that are HIV-positive are wasted each year, while HIV-positive patients in need of transplants languish on waiting lists. Researchers want to change that.

Farm organizations were in different stages of a grant process when the U.S. Department of Agriculture cut dozens of projects to help underserved farmers access land and capital. Agriculture leaders say the termination deals a blow to future farmers.
A Design for Lower Manhattan
A group charged with rebuilding lower Manhattan today chose Berlin-based architect Daniel Libeskind's multi-structure design for the former World Trade Center site. Andrea Bernstein reports that the selection probably won't end the controversy of how to best honor the victims of Sept. 11. Karen Stalls In Gulf; Maximum Winds Fall To 30 MPH
"Karen is expected to become a remnant low later today," the National Weather Service says. In the next two days, Karen is predicted to shift a bit to the east, taking its center just south of the Alabama and Mississippi coast later Sunday.
