Linda Wertheimer speaks with NPR'S Don Gonyea about the assisted suicide trial of retired pathologist Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Today the judge issued new instructions to the jury, which legal experts say could make it easier to convict Dr. Kevorkian.
Jeruselem Bombing
Linda Gradstein reports that for two Sundays in a row now...terrorist bombs have struck Israel...leaving that country grieving and angry...and unsteadying the always delicate middle east peace process. Last Sunday, twin suicide bombings killed 26 in Israel. Today, a bus bomb in downtown Jerusalem killed at least 19. In response, Prime Minister Shimon Peres today declared war on the militant Hamas organization, which claimed responsibility for the attacks. Peres said Israel would not rest until Hamas has been destroyed.
Bomb In Israel
Linda Gradstein reports from Tel Aviv on the bombing at a busy intersection that left at least a dozen people dead and more than 100 wounded. This is the fourth suicide bombing in 8 days. Splinters groups of the Islamist extremist organization Hamas claimed responsibility for the first two attacks and reportedly for the third.
Bagels In China
Daniel Pinkwater is paging through National Geographic and comes across a picture of a remote Chinese village that has bagel s. And bagels that he says look pretty good. He mourns that fact that you can get good bagels in China, but not where he lives just a hundred miles north of New York City. He is stuck with the frozen erzatz kind.

St. David's Day
Wales celebrates its patron saint, St. David, today. St. David, the Waterman, was called Dewi in Welsh. He is credited with winning a victory over the Saxons - who back in the fifth century - ruled what is now England. St. David told Welsh soldiers to wear leeks in their helmets so they could recognize each other on the battlefield.
