A 15-year-old girl from Peoria is dead after a shooting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa early Tuesday morning.

Cedar Rapids police say Tyliyah Whitis was found outside an apartment complex in the driver's seat of a vehicle registered to a family member.

She suffered at least one gunshot wound. The vehicle sustained major damage in a single-vehicle accident, police said.

Police say they believe the shooting was a targeted incident. No suspects are arrested at this time.
