Peoria Man Arrested In Connection With High-Rise Arson Fire

A Peoria man faces aggravated arson charges after a fire at the Sterling Towers high-rise last week.Robert Sommerville, 78, is a resident of the building. Authorities say he reportedly set an intentional fire in a first story storage closet last Thursday. About 30 Peoria firefighters responded.

First and second floor residents were evacuated, while third and fourth floor residents sheltered in place. About 80 people were in the building at the time.

Damage was estimated at $20,000. No one was injured.
